The lines that appear between your brows (glabellar), around
the eyes (crow's feet), on the forehead and around the mouth actually result
from muscle movement and the passage of time. The wrinkles are caused from a
combination of factors: aging, stress, sun, genetics, hormo
ne loss, collagen
depletion and the environment. Botox ® is a simple, nonsurgical treatment that
can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines, forehead creases and
crow's feet.
What is Botox
Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the
Clostridium Botulinum bacteria, which reduces activity of the muscle. It may
sound dangerous, but it is very, very safe. A Botox® Cosmetic treatment is a
simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes deep, persistent lines between
your brows that developed over time. One ten-minute treatment--a few tiny
injections--relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps
them relaxed up to four months. Botox® Cosmetic was approved by the Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002.
The results of Botox ® are dramatic and apparent within days. In clinical
trials, nearly 90% of the men and women surveyed rated the improvement in
their brow lines as moderate to better. For many, Botox® virtually "erases"
these lines.

Botox Applications
• Softening frown lines, glabeller wrinkles and crow’s feet
• Lifting the brow and opening the eyes
• Smoothing the bags underneath the eyes
• Relaxing drooping cords in the neck (turkey neck)

BOTOX® has also been used for the treatment of Migrane Headaches. Patients
have described great relief from their migranes after receiving BOTOX®
injections.
BOTOX® results are described as giving one a relaxed and youthful
appearance. The results last approximately 3-4 months, but with
reapplication the results begin to last longer. BOTOX®, When combined with
other cosmetic enhancements such as Restylane and Perlane, the results are
even more profound and longer lasting.

Side Effects
Side effects of Botox are rare and include bruising at
the injectio
n site, headache for 1-2 hours after treatment and eye droop
(very rare) can occur. There have been no known allergies to Botox®.
Unlike surgery, Botox® is fast, simple, and minimally
invasive, with no downtime or recovery. Most people return directly to work
or normal activity following treatment.
Patients are instructed to be upright for 4 hours after
their Botox injection. Within days, they report looking
more natural and relaxed. With Botox®, they'll know you've done something,
they just won't know what.

Treatment Preparation
Botox requires no pretesting, but you should take a few
precautions before being treated. Avoid using Aspirin, Non Steroidal Anti
inflammatory medication (NSAIDS), St John's Wart or high doses of Vitamin E,
because these may increase bleeding at injection site.
Prior to injecting, your physician may choose to numb the
area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.
